clearMDM Use Case, Reparenting Rules
This article provides information on how to reparent associated files, article, events etc to the Master Record when there have been records that have matched and merged.
For this Use Case scenario, the record type of Account will be used and Events will be reparented to the Master Record.
Follow these steps to setup the Reparenting Settings:
- Navigate to Settings within clearMDM.
- Select the Target Object Tab.
- Select the Target Object ‘Account’ and edit.
- Navigate to the Reparenting Settings section.
- Select ‘Is Active?’ checkbox.
- Select ‘Is Reset Active’? checkbox.
- Select ‘Is Reset Invoked by Reparenting?’ checkbox.
- Click on save.
Follow these steps to setup the child object type ‘Events’ for Reparenting:
- Navigate to Settings within clearMDM.
- Select the Data Sources Tab.
- Select the Account Data Source and edit.
- Navigate to the Child Object Relationships section.
- From the list displayed, select the Event Child SObject Type(s) and tick all the checkboxes.
- Click on save.
Follow these steps to create two records for Matching and Reparenting:
Pre-requisite: All other clearMDM settings have been applied and the blocking key has been
setup.
- Navigate to the Accounts tab and create a new record.
- Place a value in the field that will trigger the blocking key.
- Click on save.
- Add Events to this record.
- Click on save.
- Create a second record with the same credentials.
- Click on save.
- Add Events to this record.
- Click on save.
There are now two Account records with individual Events that will match and merge. Run the Blocking Key Process Request using the Blocking Key value for these records.
Once the Blocking Key Process Request has completed, a Master Record will have been created. The Master Record displays all the Events that have been associated with the created Records.
