clearMDM Secondary Target Objects

This blog post, clearMDM Secondary Target Objects, explores and demonstrates the ability to be able to create more than one Target Object for the same Salesforce Object.

Target Objects and Data Sources within clearMDM can now be created by using the ‘Save As’ button option within Settings. This is particularly useful if you wish to create another Target Object and Data Source based upon existing configuration setup for a Salesforce Object.

The demo below provides an overview of how to create a new Target Object, using the same Object Type, but for a different Record Type within the Salesforce Object.

Test Scenario

  1. Click on the MDM Settings tab within clearMDM.
  2. Select Target Objects.
  3. In this example, we are going to use the Account Target Object.
  4. Select Edit the Target Object.
  5. Rename the Target Object. Each Target Object needs to have a unique name.
  6. Tick the ‘Is Secondary?’ checkbox. This implies the Target Object is a secondary one of the same Salesforce Object (see screenshot below).
  7. Select the ‘Save As’ button. This will create the new Target Object, for the Record Type of Business Account. All existing configuration will be copied across.

A Data Source will also need creating for the new Target Object. The same logic can be applied when creating the new one.
